Outings galore!

Hello everyone!

We have been having another great week here in beautiful Spain! The students have been so much fun so far, and we are having a blast getting to know them and being able to take them out for good times around the city. This week Tuesday was "Noche de Chicas" (Girls' night) and Thursday was "Noche de Chicos" (Guys' night). We took both groups paddleboating on the river and it was a blast! Lots of bonding and fun memories.

We caught an amazing sunset after Noche de Chicos, it was incredible! What a beautiful city we live in.

On Wednesday, in between girls' and guys' nights, we had our first "Encuentro" or "Encounter" meeting with the students. It went really well! It is like a youth group night that we organize for the students once a week with worship, topics pertaining to faith while studying abroad, and student and staff testimonies. It was a great experience for me to have that encouragement once a week when I was studying here in Spain, so I am glad that we get to do the same for students coming through the program! We put together a band with a few guitarists, singers, a keyboardist, and a cajon. I played bass and Jordan played guitar as usual and it was so fun to worship in Spanish and English. No photos, but some to come soon since we will be doing Encuentro once a week.

Today we went to a city close by called Cordoba for our first excursion with the students. It is required for the art history class, oh darn! I took that class when I was here, by the way, super interesting.. It has a famous mosque that is amazing and has quite the history! It was once a Christian church and was destroyed by the Muslims in the 8th century, then made into a mosque... then in the 16th century part of it was reconstructed smack dab in the middle of the mosque into a Christian church again... quite the site to see! You can see from the photos the contrasting styles.

Tonight we are making dinner with our couch surfers, Gui and Leah, and then going out to find a place to watch some flamenco... hopefully! We have enjoyed having them stay the last 3 nights. They have traveled all over the world and are now looking for jobs and an apartment here in Sevilla (good choice!).

Miss you and love you all. Leave us comments so we know you stopped by!

Looks like fun.

BTW Noche de Chicas and Noche de Chicas both mean "Girls' Night."
